I have a Sho-bud D10 and a Williams SD10. I have recently picked up both a Boss Katana 100 amp with a 12 inch speaker and a Quilter tt-15. I found that I really like the way the sho-bud sounds in the quilter but not the Boss. The opposite is true with the Williams. The Boss sounds much better with the Williams than the Quilter does.
Any thoughts on this phenomena? |

I would try a a blind test and see if you get the same results.

| Well I don't have an answer but I have experienced the same results with mix and match of multiple amps and steels. My amp collection is around 30, and 7 pedal steels. While several are dedicated acoustic and others for 6 sting, my steel amps and larger tube amps work better, or at least sound better when used with certain steels. That's to say to my ears and tastes. Of course speaker types vary and so do cabinet dimensions. The same can be said of pickup types. Maybe if they all had the same pickup, cables and volume pedal the results would be more scientific. |

With "I" being the operative word, it just means you've drawn a subjective conclusion. We all have different likes and dislikes; we sometimes hear things differently, so I wouldn't dwell in it too much. |

This is totally true for me.
Some combinations of gear/instrument sound way better than others.
I mainly use speakers in individual cabs these days, in order to experiment/match amp to speaker to Steel. |
