I've been looking for and can not find, a list of all the Hank Williams songs that Don Helms played on. I know of maybe 3 HW songs to begin with and I need to "drop the needle" and listen to HW & Don playing on them.
Is there a list somewhere of the HW songs that Don played on?
I want to be sure that I am listening to Don playing.
Thanks! _________________ Tony

Try discogs.com or allmusic.com. There are several sites to try, maybe even Wikipedia. _________________ I don't know much but what I know I know very well.

Thanks Charlie!
Those just list the albums of Hank Williams Sr. There are huge number of HW "mishmash" albums. I am looking for a list of SONGS that Don Helms played on in studio recordings (not live versions). I know Don played on Hank's last 10 #1 hit singls:
1. 1950 "Long Gone Lonesome Blues"
2. 1950 "Why Don't You Love Me"
3. 1950 "Moanin' The Blues"
4. 1951 "Cold, Cold Heart"
5. 1951 "Hey Good Lookin'"
6. 1952 "Jambalaya (On the Bayou)"
7. 1952 "I'll Never Get Out Of This World Alive"
8. 1953 "Kaw-Liga"
9. 1953 "Your Cheatin' Heart"
10. 1953 "Take These Chains From My Heart"
Hank's 1st #1 hit single was "Lovesick Blues" in 1949 and Jerry Byrd played steel on it.
Hank release two studio albums while he was alive. There were 9 more studio albums released between 1952-2009.
Albums:
1. 1951 "Hank Williams Sings"
2. 1952 "Moanin' the Blues"
3. 1953 "Memorial Album"
4. 1953 "Hank Williams as Luke The Drifter"
5. 1954 "Honky Tonkin'"
6. 1954 "I saw The Light"
7. 1954 "Rambiln' Man"
8. 1985 "Just Me And My Guitar"
9. 2008 "The Unreleased Recordings"
10. 2009 "The Unreleased Recordings: Gospel Keepsakes"
11. 2009 "The Unreleased Recordings: Revealed"
Just trying to figure out which songs had Don on them. _________________ Tony

If you can find an album titled “The Lonesome Sound of Hank Williams” , I believe Don Helms is on steel. I wore that album out.
Without a doubt one of my favorites!Geo |
