Hey Ken, I will relay your message to Bob.
Here is Bob's description -
I commissioned construction of this instrument by R.E. Lee of Mt. Gilead, Ohio, at the time a recognized builder of custom resonator guitars, who delivered it to me about 1990. This guitar has had no other owner. It has had very little use for the past twenty years, spending most of its time in the custom road case constructed for it. The case should protect it from anything short of drowning.
The body and neck of this square-neck instrument are all walnut. The builder’s name is carefully carved in low relief on the headstock. There is black binding on the sides and fretboard, with more decorative binding on the top. The brass nut was designed by R.E.Lee. As I recall, the fretboard is rosewood. The general concept of the inlay (“a vine”) is mine, but the actual design and execution was done by a local artisan, Greg Gfell of Kent, Ohio. The finish of the guitar is almost flawless. Some scratches (from a belt buckle) on the back have been repaired. There is a very fine crack in the top near the tailpiece.
Two sound reinforcement modalities are built into the guitar. Whenever possible, they should be used simultaneously to best capture the entire tonal and dynamic range of this wonderful instrument. On-board electronics consist of a built-in sub-miniature microphone, Audio Technica AT831a, a Lawrence magnetic pickup and a 5-pin jack. A custom cable is supplied to split the outputs of the two devices. The microphone runs on 2 AA batteries or phantom power. The guitar weight is 7.2 lb., the case weight is 36.8 lb., and the combined weight of the guitar and case is 44 lb.
