I was changing strings on the C neck and pumping pedal 8 (standard C6th setup) while bringing the C string (7th string) up to pitch and something went click. The pedal rod had snapped in two where the pin that holds the rod in the bell crank intersects the bell crank.
The rod measures 11 1/4". The guitar is a 1988 Zum with center pull bell cranks.
I don't know why the rod snapped but I've never had any problems with this guitar in the 34 years I've had it. I'm kind of vexed as to what caused this.
I have no machine shop skills or equipment to make a new one so I'm reaching out to the forum members for help.
Thanks in advance.

Joe

Should I try taking the pull rod to a machine shop and have them make me a new one? I realize it's a small job comparatively speaking; I guess all they can say is no or I have to have them make up 90 of 'em to make it worth their while...Any suggestions are welcome.

Have you contacted Bruce? I know he's retired, but, he may be able to hook you up.

How do I get a hold of Bruce? I called the number listed in the online Zum owner's manual but it is disconnected.
