Is it a walnut or mahogany body?
Thanks

I'm pretty sure Bruce Bouton played a Rudy Q Jones back in his days with Skaggs. And, I think Rudy Q Jones is from Ada, Oklahoma. This is the first one I have ever seen for sale. Rudy was known around our area as a very good resonator builder.

Used to work with Rudy when he was building his guitars...He worked out of Wanette, Ok then. He was running for political office , too. That was in the early 80s, I think, or late 70s. |

Mark: So did Jerry Douglas...play a Jones, that is. His guitar is in either the Country Music or Bluegrass museum. Great guitars. In those days (late 70's early 80's) it was the only high quality resonator guitar one could get. I would never sell mine, it has such a sweet tone. Many of them have cracks in them due to the way the wood was dried and processed, but the cracks don't seem to do any harm. If someone isn't too worried about that esthetic issue, this would make them a sweet player at a decent price. |

So yes, from my understanding this was made by Rudy Q Jones. Though well played, it sounds great. Significantly louder and better tone than my 80s OMI made dobro. Honestly, if no one jumps on it, I won’t be upset.
I am only looking to trade or sell for two reasons.
1. I just bought a custom built koa resonator by Mike Williford that sounds amazing.
2. I also play banjo in my bluegrass band and I am looking to get a high quality banjo before we record our album this winter. |
