Hey guys… just wanted to document my process on here in case anyone is interested. My 51 year old emmons case is ready to be replaced. I wanted something lightweight but durable.
It looks like the pelican v700 will be enough space to replace the old case.
I’ll be documenting my progress on here regarding getting the interior foam fitted to the guitar. _________________ www.pamtillis.com

Keep us posted. Is the depth of the case okay ? I used the storm im1300 for a while but had problems with the depth. _________________ Bob |

Very interested in the outcome over here as well. Was eyeing a similar model for my ZB.

I don’t fly with the D-10 emmons - but I am thinking about getting another one for the s-10 sho bud that I fly with all the time. If that works out, I wouldn’t have to split the legs, rods, and pedal bar into a different case to keep it under 50lbs. It’d also be more compact for traveling than my current robust flight case. _________________ www.pamtillis.com

That’s what I’m playing with currently, the depth. I’m treating this as a
Measure 20x and cut once situation… since i can always take a little more foam away, but adding it back if I cut too much is gonna get really sloppy.
I’ve also waited to cut the foam until I got an electric knife. I’ve heard they provide a much cleaner cut.
I’ll have the foam finished tomorrow. 😎 _________________ www.pamtillis.com

I measured a few configurations, and determined even for local gigs, there wouldn’t be enough depth to protect the steel. There was only going to be about 1/2” of foam around the steel, and less than that for the depth. I was anticipating the weight of the steel would compress that fairly easily. The secondary layers of the foam isn’t as fitted as the top layer and feels fairly flimsy. I was hoping this would be a good fit but I wouldn’t recommend it for a D-10. It may work for an
S-10; I’m just looking for more protection. _________________ www.pamtillis.com

Mine arrived yesterday and I cut the foam with an electric kitchen knife. Mullen Discovery fits OK. Weighs in at 45 pounds.

This looks really interesting.... I just bought a Gator 61 Key Keyboard gig bag to be used for the body of an Emmons P/P in a split case configuration. It works well, but I'm still curious to hear how well one of these work and how durable they are. |

This is what I was thinking - it would work better for a S-10. I’ll be interested to hear your opinion on the protection the case is providing once you have a couple gigs with it. It looks like there’s a good amount of foam around the guitar still.. which wouldn’t have been the case for my d-10 _________________ www.pamtillis.com
