On my YouTube videos I get a lot of ad-lib comments referring to the SpongBob cartoon series. At first I was a little irked by this. But after thinking about it I realised that this cartoon series was introducing Hawaiian Steel guitar to a whole new audience who would otherwise very rarely hear this style of music. After reading Nic Neufeld's thread on the same topic and listening to Casey Olsens excellent playing of this piece. I decided to transcribe and make a video recording of the piece and upload it to Youtube. I have also added a link to a free tab and a link to download my ukulele and bass backing track in the YouTube description. The rationale behind this is that audience who watch the cartoon may just be inspired enough, and decide they would like to have a go and play the piece and have a bit of steel guitar fun. You never know but somebody might like playing the steel guitar so much they become the next Casey Olsen or Jerry Byrd!

That's a beautiful tune! And as for SpongeBob Square Pants, apart from the title character, the animation is far superior and more imaginative than any offering in that TV genre in the last 20 years.

Beautiful playing, and I agree that Spongebob is probly an important way to remind people how beautiful Hawaiian music can be.

Love it.

Thank you David and Travis for your comments. The music played on the Spongebob cartoon series certainly resonated with quite a few people...... I can tell by the comments on my videos!
