| What's the best way to place a steel in storage in the case for a year or two. Should the strings be removed or loosen. |

Paul,
I don’t have the answer but would suggest a “climate-controlled” environment/unit and VERY secure facility. Of course this would cost more over just a regular storage unit. Good luck…Carl |

No need to loosen or remove strings for storage; that's an old wives' tale. Any stress experienced from string tension during storage will be the same (or less) than that which is experienced during actual use.
But, I would add a pack or two of dessicant in case there is a sudden or unknown change in storage conditions. |

Make sure no nasty chemicals are in the area where the guitar is stored. If vapors of Drain-O, Red Seal Lye, Costic Soda or Wood Smoke, Wood Ashes, Lime or a Concrete floor can get in, Can cause YUCK to form on Aluminum Endplates, Changer Blocks, Key Heads, pedals and pedal bars.
Make sure no cat or dog pees in the case while packing. |
