Thanks so much everyone! I usually keep my crazy thoughts about lost steel guitars to myself. My Step-Pop was from Houston, and the best Dad you could ever wish for. This guitar reminds me of him so much. His name was Benton Smith, and his record collection was all Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, and tons of original Blue Note Jazz records along with the Mastersounds stuff that was the Montgomery Brothers, all super thick old school vinyl. We used to joke those records were built like frying pans. Thank you for the photo link, Lee, what a classic guitar. I think in an old Steel Guitar World magazine I have Bobbie Seymore said the EMCI was the best all-pull guitar made. Thanks again friends, I needed that smile! |
