Topic: Why is this groove in a PP finger? |

Appealing to the Push-Pull mechanics.
Why is there a groove in the lowering fingers?? That hole is there to hook the return spring. Also, fyi, when I hold the raise & lower fingers together and turn the raise finger to simulate a raise the raise finger binds just before the groove. Is this all due to misalignment? What am I missing? I haven’t worked on manyPP’s but I don’t recall ever seeing this. All ten lowering fingers have a groove in various sizes..Any credible feedback is appreciated.

Certainly no P/P expert here, but I don't see any cause for concern concerning the groove. It appears it's just a drill mark due to the proximity of the drilled hole to the bend in the piece. Probably necessary concerning the hole location.

Marty,
My 67 has these as well. They have never caused an issue and i wouldn't have known they were these until i pulled the changer during the rehab of the guitar.
What raise is this binding on?
I'd start by looking at the entire pull train and make sure you don't have something catching along the path or if its on a string that you are raising and lowering
a note make sure you have enough space between the raise swivel and the locking collar. You have to leave space to allow for the movement of the lower. I.E. 4th string raise and lower and 5/10 string raise and lower.
You might also check to see if there is a bur on the changer also check if the lowering return spring is seated correctly and not stopping the raise finger from reaching its final destination.

I agree with Jerry. Drill mark from drilling the holes. Both my push pulls are the same way. Certainly no issue.
