I'm currently running an axeFX and a Sarno V8. I'd like to have a rack case beside me facing up. Ideally, I could plug my Hilton into it easily...I've seen people using the Fred Justice ones and they seem to be perfect. However, they aren't made any more. Is there anything else out there like them? The speaker ports and plugs on the outside are great features.

I have looked for the same and came up empty. Herby Wallace used a modified SKB style case with the addition of external jacks and power cord. You can do that unless someone else chimes in. I have one of the Justice 3 space cases myself.

Being an ex amp tech I don't like the cloth (padded) rack cases or the carpet covered cases. Without extra cooling air flow, potentially they can add to equipment overheating. Short term its not usually a problem but long term could be.

The SKB type or the "wooden" road style cases.

I used a rack case years ago. I had it highly modified with cooling fan, air vent, surge AC power strip and input/output jacks.

Is there a current source for rack cases with AC plugs, input/output connections, etc…or are these things more DIY?

Thanks for the replies and ideas. I've heard that SKB makes some of the lighter ones. I'm definitely trying to avoid turning the rack into a back breaker for no reason.

I have the same question as Ken. Are these mods coming from SKB?

I haven't look at rack cases recently, but all I have seen are DIY or possibly some custom build.

So many variations on what is installed in a case that its almost impossible to build a "universal" case with jacks.

I make these for rack cases.
There is a socket for the power cord and two speakers jacks.

ahh, those are awesome. I ordered and SKB rack before seeing this. Once it is in, I might have to follow up on this. The material it is made out of is my concern. Thanks for the heads up on these.

Alex, those plates from Erv are exactly what are used to modify your rack case. You won't be sorry.
