It is a sad day in the Steel Guitar World to lose such a great inspiration to the industry. His intelligence was an amazing thing to witness. He remebered everything, I would tell him a name and he would tell me the color, and model of the guitar and where the person lived. I was blessed to have been called a friend by Fred, but also to have spent the last 3 years being trained by him to continue the Justice Steel Guitar legacy. Rest in peace my friend. My heart goes out to Brenda and the rest of the family. |

Just learned of Fred’s passing this morning. Although Fred and I had our differences over the last 25 years, I am sorry to lose him from this earth, but happy that he has reached the heavenly goal that we left behind are continuing to achieve. My condolences to Brenda and their family. Rest In Peace, Fred. _________________ Billy & Meriul Easton

I am so sorry to hear of Fred's passing. I first got to know him when I was invited to play at the Arizona show over the years. He was a great player and builder and, while I didn't know him all that well personally, I know he was well loved during his life. My condolences to Brenda and his family.

Everybody loved Fred. He stayed with us one year for the OSGA show. We have a cat, and asked Fred if he liked cats. His answer, Medium Well with a little salt and pepper. Marion kept a close eye on her cat all weekend.
Fred was one of the best. He is missed already.
Love ya Fred,
Rick and Marion |

Sad to hear this, I enjoyed talking with Fred At the shows in Mesa !
Last year I walked into the Justice room, Fred had me pegged as I walked in the door saying “ you look like you’re from California “ we sat a talked awhile when he asked if I had eaten lunch, I hadn’t so when Fred’s partner came back with Burritos I had the pleasure of having lunch with him. He kindly chided me for the Bud light I was drinking and we spoke of his devotion to God. I’ll miss seeing him and I’ll always remember his gentle way.

A legend and a great guitar maker.

It’s a strange and sad feeling when you loose a fellow steel player. It leaves a hole in the heart.
When Fred played he had a Jerry Byrd touch/vibrato. Always a nice guy and wasn’t afraid to proclaim his Christ.
This one is for Fred and played on a JUSTICE.

I will always remember the phone calls I had with Fred as he was building me a steel - especially the call one morning when he said "Hi, Rick. Want to hear the first notes played on your steel as I string it up?" Nice man who built excellent instruments and played some fine music. That's a pretty good legacy.
RIP Fred. |
