Man of Mystery as recorded by the Shadows in 1960. Played on a Rickenbacker S-100 Lap Steel guitar. C6 tuning CEGACE low to high. Backing created with a drum track (courtesy of YouTube), tenor ukulele and a Ukulele style bass.
I hope you all enjoy,
Mike. |

Nice job Mike. Is that Rick new to you? Better be careful Mike, with that shiny pickguard we almost got a glimpse of your face. (Man of Mystery) _________________ Currently own, 6 Groner-tone lap steels, one 1953 Alamo Lap steel, Roland Cube, Fender Champion 40 |

I think you may have misunderstood my post Mike? All I meant was, in every video we only see you from below the shoulders. Vids from the shoulders down isn't unique to you, Doug B. does the same thing. Maybe you guys are so good looking you just don't want anyone to be distracted from the lap steel playing? Is that Ric a new addition or have you had it for a while? _________________ Currently own, 6 Groner-tone lap steels, one 1953 Alamo Lap steel, Roland Cube, Fender Champion 40 |

I understood you Bill. I was just trying to be funny........sometimes a difficult thing over the internet ! The guitar is new to me yes. Nice to have that Rickenbacker Horseshoe pickup. The guitar is courtesy of the fantastic Kevin Glandon.
Jack, what a great album cover. I have not seen that one before! |

Thanks Doug. You are right. This surf style of music really suits the steel guitar. In the UK in the 60s pre the Beatles the Shadows where really popular. Those catchy simple tunes are timeless. Maybe there should be a forum surf challenge. Might be a bit of fun! . |
