Milkman the amp. 50 or 100?

I love the Milkman stuff, I have an 80w combo as well as a 80w head and big speaker cabinet. But that's a lot to carry and I always bring a NV 112 to gigs, but want to go lighter. I'm always mic'd to the system but who knows what I'll do in the future.

I'm looking to get "the amp" and build a light speaker box; I like to go without the in ears when I can (depending on if I have good monitor and also protect hearing).

Is there a consensus on which The Amp sounds better-50w or 100w? And perhaps the 50w may not enough for some things/places?

Don't know how much this helps, but I have the Half & half and everything about it is first-rate, so I'd think all their products are up to the same standard. Tim's great with the customer service too.

As to The Amp, I'd go for the 100. It's only a C-note more and you have better control over the reverb, plus you have the boost function-- I was particularly taken with the David Lindley tones he was getting (out of a six-string, no less!) in the vid on the Milkman website.

Just my $.02.YMMV.

Of all the combos and stacks I have had over the years, my favorite setup is the one I have now - A PF 400 in a 1X15 cab built by Rick Johnson and a Milkman 100.
I have owned a Milkman 50 and loved it and the tremolo it has but as Dave said, I like the reverb decay control on the 100 and use it more than I did the tremolo.

I tend to think the 100 has the edge for pedal steel.

I run all of the preamp controls (vol treb bass) at noon and leave the boost on set to about 11 o'clock and just a touch of reverb and never run out of headroom or power even at my loudest gigs

I think the 50 has a bit of a sweeter sound overall. I like to think of the 50 as a Deluxe Reverb and the 100 as a good Twin Reverb so depending on the vibe you are trying to get you can choose based on that idea

I agree with Tim. I've owned them both and it's the 100 for me. Volume down low and boost way up, Jupiter 16 ohm 12" speaker. Great sound and super light.

I also have both the 50 and 100. I took the 100 out last night for the first time and preferred it for steel over the 50. It sounded great with the telecaster as well. I used a Weber Neomag 12” and was very happy.

Looking for some advice on this topic. I love the direct sound I get with The Amp 50 W using the XLR out either at home or live, but have always been disappointed with the sound when using the Speaker Out with a Telonics 15" cabinet. It seems really dark and muffled at any setting. Has anyone used this and felt the same way? Thanks!
