the temp was probly not the same. i felt i hear a difference when playing out with these singers, also in instrementals, the jag strings have a wound 6th string the others didnt have.. i'm not trying to say one of these strings is better, i like all three.

Jerry when a singer tells me that they want me to use a certain type of strings when they sing they better be paying me very good ! Every player has strings that they like better than others and i doubt that a singer could tell what brand of strings you use at any time ! I don't know just how many string manufacturers they are but it may surprise all of us ! Some companies will put your name on the packs instead of theirs if you have a steel guitar shop etc . Just my opinion . G.P. |

If you haven't tried Jagwire strings I think you would be happy putting set on that fine guitar. What ever I am doing, s show or recording or what ever, Jagwires fill the bill. Walter Haynes |

i now am using jagwire strings, wound 6th where the 6th was plain on george-ls and cobra, to me the george-ls were the brightest, cobra's were bright, the jagwire strings seem more mellow, this is with the same amp and same settings. again i still like all three strings, had no trouble with them going dead after using 6 or 8 weeks.

It would beg me to ask the singer a question though...
Singer:
would you change your strings, I don't like those.
Player:
Ok,what strings would you like me to use ?
Singer:
Brand X..
Player:
Ok, can you tell me whats ON my guitar now ?
I'm not sure if I have ever heard of this scenario before this..A singer telling a player to use different strings..
and it's not even April 1st...

..Jagwires work best for me...Cobra Coils only choke them, and George L's knot up before you can get them around their necks.. |

ok. i need to rephrase thi whole thing......my late but still loved sang and played guitar her voice waf on the high side i was using george-l strings at the time, i tried other brands looking for different sounding strings we deciced the george-ls sounded best with her voice.. the some with another singer only she didnt know i changed strings because i thought they sounded best with her. the lady i play behind now has a very mellow voice the jagwire strings i think work best. i know most of you think i'm crazy and i might be because i talk to myself as of to day i'm not talking back to me

i'm going to ask a silly question, can wound strings can sound different due to the material and the tightness of the winding?. i still think jagwire strings have a more mellow sound in the wound strings

These are breaking by MY finger Jerry, at the tuner, I usually only have about 1 1/2 to two turns on the shaft, could that be the reason or is it just the nature of the beast |

i usually have 6 to 8 turns on the tuning peg. all my breakage has been at the pull fingers B. M. I. s-10. i had a sho-bud 12 string extended e 9th that broke strings at the tunning pegs when that happened it HURT and most always brought blood, and yes the rollers were free and well lubed,

If you think an 011 hurts when it snaps, wait 'til you feel a 012!
I've been through everything from 010 to 012 with the special wraps and the 0115 and the pressure tested that you pay several times what I pay for bulk SIT 011 strings -- just like guitar players use. What's worked best for me is just to change the 3rd every gig and the 5th every other gig. They just don't ever break.
For the wound strings I find much more difference in the freshness / age of the strings than the brand. Your mileage certainly may vary, but I keep 3 guitars set up with relatively fresh strings (usually changed every 2-4 weeks or so). I haven't broken a string for years on any of my guitars -- except when I leave them on too long.
I buy individual SIT strings a dozen at a time of each gauge. 011s cost me less than $3 for A DOZEN. Wound strings are less than a buck apiece.
