Seeking advise as to possible solutions for improving the appearance of oxidized, corroded, pitted -- but otherwise perfectly functional -- KLUSON DELUXE tuners without damaging the original plastic buttons.

You could utilize electrolytic rust removal ... using sodium carbonate as an electrolyte.

We do this as a high school chemistry lab each year ... works great.

It'll turn them black initially ... but that will come off with a brush ...

Here's a beginners guide ... I watched it ... gives you the basics on how to set up the apparatus ....

She's using a car battery ... you can use 9 volt batteries ... we have DC power sources in our lab ...
