I began using a Profex 2 again and wanted to ask you folks if you have any recommendations for a VERY simple 9V EQ/ volume control stompbox for on-the-fly tone control. All I really need is bass and treble. Also, have any of you clever guys come up with something to shade the display when playing outdoors so you can see your presets?

Thank you!

Marty

Marty, on my boat fish finder is a sunshade that may work for you. I've never tried it for that purpose, merely a suggestion.

Marty, According to Part One of the Pro Fex manual
The utility key (#10) can change the view angle of the Main Display Window (#17)for variable view angle adjustment.
I did this on my Pro Fex years ago. Jeff Newman showed how to do it on his ProFex vhs tape.
Hope this helps good luck, Patrick

Hi Marty, here are some ideas, most are available used or new.

- The Goodrich Match Boxes (7A, 6A etc) provide level boost and cut and treble roll-off, and run on batteries, but don't have a bass control. The different models have different amounts of gain (7A has more than 6A.)
- MXR Micro Amp Plus (+) is a clean boost with level control, and cut/boost for bass and treble. Runs on 9V battery or external power supply. Minimum level out is unity gain (same as input), it won't cut the level to zero.
- TC Electronics Spark Booster will give you cut and boost for level, bass and treble, and can add some overdrive if you want it. Requires external 9V power supply.
- Earthquaker Devices Tone Job has cut and boost for level, treble, mids and bass. Requires external power supply 9V to 18V.
- All of these work as buffers when they're on, so can go right after your steel.

You can Google for "clean boost with EQ" for more options.
