Is the Franklin pedal normally used as a "zero" pedal or is it used as a p4? If either one, which do players generally prefer?

I have neither, but from a bystander's viewpoint the field looks evenly split.

I would set the location based on knee lever placement.

Not sure, but is there an advantage to having it adjacent to the A pedal?

If so, then it's dictated by Emmons vs. Day: pedal 1 or pedal 4 respectively.

I don't have it.

My guitar will have that pedal. I am getting an Emmons setup so I guess it will be adjacent to the A pedal? I will ask Derek, as he is the one building my guitar. I just wondered whether there was some overall preference for where to put it.

I am a Day player, and have my Franklin pedal on pedal #4 on most of my pedal steels. It's an easy add.

Ken, do you find enough use for your Franklin pedal to justify having it? I ordered my guitar with the pedal but since I don't play yet and you have this pedal, I am taking this opportunity to ask.

As long as I can use the E's to Eb at the same time it would be all Very Happy In my case, the E's to Eb are on my LKR so I would need it to be at P4 next to the C pedal.

If your E's to Eb are on your R-knee lever then the PF pedal could be either at P0 or P4

just my thoughts

Hi Michael
I use the Franklin pedal a few times in an evening, but not so much that it becomes repetitious. I use it fleetingly, as I do the strings 1 & 2 raise. That change is used by everybody these days, and is very much overused. I do like the 7th string whole tone raise very much. Great major 7 chord.

Hello Michael,

With the Franklin next to the A pedal: it helps when you are rocking off of the FP to the A pedal. I, too, have it there. And Ken, with the Day setup, although pedal 4, it too, is next to the A pedal. There are other posts questioning Franklin pedal placement to look up if you so desire.......Pat.

I'm sure I'm NOT your normal Franklin Pedal user... Mine is spread out over one pedal and 2 knee levers... So I can use part or all, I usually just use part of it.

when I had my old Justice for a few months it was a EMMONS setup with the Franklin on Pedal 4, I didnt get a lot of licks with as I didnt have the guitar long enough. I did use it for SUS chords

3rd fret in G, hit B pedal, let off B, then Hit the franklin, and resolve it to G

I had the Franklin change as pedal 0, next to the A pedal, but I found it a bit confusing. Many times I stepped on 0+A instead of the intended A+B. That, and the fact that I didn't find the Franklin change useful in my (rather simplistic) style of playing, made me take it off.
