Does anyone still sell hardware for building a do-it-yourself pac-a-seat? Seems like I remember Ed Naylor having them at one time.

| Skip, if you are not too picky about appearance (read chromed legs), You can use 1/2 or 3/4 inch conduit pipe for legs. Buy a cheap pipe bender and you are in business. They are very strong. The seat I built lasted for 15 years before my house burned and redesigned my seat. |

| You may be on to something there, but I'm not sure if I'm ready to do-it-myself. Does anyone know if Cush Case sells replacement legs for their pack seats? Do they have a website? Google didn't find one. |

| Can you get a tight enough bend with a pipe bender? I think you might have to find somebody with a mandrel bender. Anybody know about this stuff? |

The conduit benders will not bend the square enough. I looked into that when I was building seats. And, the places in Kansas City that I checked on to bend to the proper shape wouldn't do it for a small run, only if I did a large run of legs and as I was only building a small amount of seats that was out.
I wound up using conduit but had them cut (mitered on the corners) and then welded. The seats I built with those legs are still being used 15 to 20 years later. I was about 210lbs and the conduit held up under my weight.[This message was edited by Jack Stoner on 31 October 2006 at 03:01 AM.] |

you guys are right on, a conduit bender will not get a tight enough bend,to large.
It takes a Hossfield type bender,with round dies!!!
Most School shops have this type benders!!!
I notice on American Choppers TV they have a hand bender like that.
Not for production, i have bend 3 to 4 hundred pcs.with mine.
