In addition to playing steel, the seller also enjoys assembling 3000 piece jigsaw puzzles.

That is a sweet looking axe! I dig the paint job. The volume control on these is perfectly placed for volume sweels w/pinky.
Sacred Steeler Aubrey Ghent played a similar guitar on his CD and it sounds fantastic, at least in his hands.

Well, I gotta say, that looks pretty nice, least as far as what I can tell. I dunno though... I think I need to see more than just a measly 34 photographs before I know what it is exactly that I'm bidding on!

This is the funniest!
I have never seen anyone go so in depth with a eBay auction. I agree with Gerald Ross...I guess this guy does like doing Jig-Saw puzzles!

This guy is setting a new standard. I think every time one of us sells a steel guitar (especially a D-10) in the future, we should disassemble the whole thing, right down to the volume pot and every screw, and take forensic photos before offering it for sale. Anything less would be misleading.

Except for the "White" decal and dickup cover it looks like a Fender Studio DeLuxe, which in the opinion of every House of God steel guitarist and lots of other people is NOT a great steel. It doesn't begin to compare to the DeLuxe 8, which has the Stringmaster-type two pickup system. The tone of a Studio DeLuxe is very thin. Anthony Fox, southpaw sacred steeler from SC, plays one with an aftermarket (Seymour Duncan?) "fat" pickup that sounds pretty nice.
When we recorded Aubrey's studio album it took every trick in the books to make his steel sound pretty good. Don't get me wrong--he's a great artist, an incredible musician. But the Studio DeLuxe is not a great guitar.
And yes, I believe the seller has had way too much coffee.

It is kind of comical to see this much detail, when most sellers only have a few mediocre pics. Hopefully Russ is right in that it will rub off on some other sellers. Now that we've seen the guitar, how about asking this seller for a sound file of the guitar....or, better yet, 34 sound files...one in each tuning! |

He never showed the side of the pots which face the steel pickgard plate. Wouldn't that be a goof: "Could you unscrew those and send me a picture?" |

Too funny!
On Ebay, the first picture is free.
You pay if you want more.
I hope this guy broke even. |

You're only charged for pictures if you use ebay's "picture hosting service". This seller had his photos on another site and just linked to them. There is no ebay charge for that.

Outrageous, I say. Can't the guy do sound samples the same way- one MP3 for every string in every pitch?
