There is a 12 string 7 pedal, 4 knee lever instrument for sale locally - maker is unknown. There is a medallion on the front which may help in identification. Any ideas as to maker, quality etc?

More photos and history. This PS was apparently custom made for church in TX.. I couldn't find a serial # but there is a hand etching Sho-Bud, 11-21-91. If it is a Sho-Bud what might it be worth?

I agree with Ron, if it was a Sho~Bud it would have a Sho~Bud nameplate. That "medallion" looks more like a coat button or ladies pin. Some impressive machining in it, but how it actually plays and sounds is anybody's guess. |

The changer is quite interesting. Looks like the fingers pull the string and the rest of the bridge are rollers. Hard to tell with certainty from the pics though. |

Can't say who what when or where, but I'll tell you, it looks very nicely done... Whoever built it knew what he was doing, and was not a hacker... _________________ I'm over the hill and hittin'rocks on the way down!

I agree with Bob C. I think it is probably a one off homemade guitar built by someone with machinist skills (or the money to have a machine shop build parts). _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . Here is the bottom pic. As I posted earlier someone hand inscribed Sho Bud on the frame but there is no serial # anywhere. The standby had a # - 615 6107 The volume pedal is labelled Emmons. I understand that this has a Jimmy Day setup. They are asking $1495.

I Have seen that fretboard design before but can't place it. Looks like 7 pedals and 5 knees. _________________ Tony

Being a 12 string and 7 pedals (and 5 knees) I would suspect its a Universal and may likely be Jeff Newman's setup. My guess.

Not the same emblem but Ron Browning uses one similar on his Texas Pedal Steel guitars.

Yes David you are right. I have looked at the Texas Steel Guitars and they are a fine guitar. I think the Medallion in question is from a Steel Guitar that Charlie Weaver built in Ada, Okla back in time. Great picker and vocal's. J.R. _________________ NOTHING..Sold it all. J.R. Rose |
