Hey yall,
Mickeys music is, and will always be Great music.!
With 39 Top 10 Hits and 17 number 1 Hits.!
His acting career, Along with his Star on the Hollywood walk of Fame.!
And we will never forget his Iconic â Gilleyâs Clubâ and Movie âUrban Cowboyâ.!
I had the honor and privilege to have been Mickeyâs Pedal Steel Guitarist since 2018, replacing Michael Hermsmeyer, and Mickey Gilley truly was the best Boss I ever had.!
Prayers for his family.

He was at the forefront of the âurban cowboyâ movement during my formative years. From Countrypolitan to pure Honkytonk, he could do it all. I really liked his vocal stylings.
I saw him when He and Johnny Lee were touring together on the fair circuit, and both put on a great show. I wish I couldâve known him, he seemed like a hoot. _________________ D.S. Rigsby |

I'm also saddened to hear of Mickey's passing. My deepest sympathies and prayers go out to his friends and family.
I found him to be a great guy. Back in 1981 or '82, I was booked to do a recording session at Gilley's Studio while in off the road for a few days. It was for a TV jingle. I wasn't there too long as it was just a 30 or 60 second track. I was done and packing my stuff when Mickey came in to see who was there. He had an office out back and had been in it. We had done shows with him so we knew each other. He helped me load my stuff into my van then asked me to come visit for awhile in the office. We had a nice talk and he gave me a Gilley Beer. He was really just a regular guy. A good guy.
I liked Mickey and his music. I learned recently that he had accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior so he's with Him now in a better place. RIP brother...
Sincerely,
Chris "Tiny" Olson |
