Melvin,
Someone has incorrectly reassembled the tuning nut assemblies on the changer, it would be all but impossible to tune the changes. The raises would be easy enough to fix but the lowers would require disassembly to correct.

Kelcey - I understand what you are referencing about the springs on the tuners. I thought the same until I did some research and found that Sho~Bud changed the design, I believe near the end of the Fingertips run.
James Morehead (RIP) points this out in a thread somewhere here on the forum. I bought a similar Fingertip, and the the tuning nuts are kinda shaped like a ZB's are, and the threaded sleeve of them fits inside the spring, with the idea that the spring should never have any portion of it between the stop on the changer and the threaded sleeve part of the tuner.
This can be problematic, but I have been able to make it work with the exception of string 4 on the C6th side, where I had to remove one of the springs.
The whole design is quite finicky...

Yes I have LOTS of tuning tips...but it all starts underneath and you haven't showed one pic yet under...ha...LOL...Particularly that changer end close up and the pullers and what's behind them and the stop screws on bracket front apron for the pedals.???
And YES; please throw the worthless George L pickup in the trash.

Darn it, I knew it was gonna happen
I once saw a post of James Moreheads which had a GeorgeL on a Fingertip, and JB (John Billings) gave him hell for it, I knew it was coming....
It's just temporary until a I get the correct pickup rewound, honest... |

I've only worked on a couple, but both owners have reported zero tuning problems, even on outdoor gigs. Both were of the apparently earlier design concerning the tuning nuts, but the undercarriage was completely stock on both. Maybe I just have dumb luck lol.

Yes, the problem was with the tuning nuts.
I had a lot of problem with breaking the high G# string also.
I was set to play a church dedication and kept breaking that string.
I broke all the strings I had, started looking around Denver and wound up putting on that high string for a 5 string banjo, that one held.

Ricky, I am not the guy having tuning problems with my Fingertip, I was just commenting about the OP's style tuning nuts.
Mine plays and stays in tune just fine, just takes a bit of tinkering to get it where it needs to be.
Didn't have an undercarriage when I got it, no pickups, and no tuning machines.
I installed an MSA undercarriage because I had the parts in a box. worked out alright.
It was Chas Smiths guitar, the guy I bought it from got it from Jim Palenscar.
It's nice looking Fingertip, I think it has original metal fretboards, what do you think?

Yes I'm a stickler for "White Sho~Bud" fretboards; here's the one I just finished for Kenneth Schell from Tulsa.

I had a D-9 Fingertip. I loved the sound but was always worried that the tuners sticking out would get bent or broken off.
