Hey guys, just got this thing cheap enough to take a risk, it looks pretty cool and has some interesting features. Ive seen tons of cheap Regal 19s and Angelus resos but none with fret markers over the body, that usually indicates a neck stick imo, also real binding front and back? Dunno, its just kinda odd to me. Anyone familiar with this model? Its not in hand yet so these pics are all i have.

My only observation is that the headstock shape is not familiar to me and the crack emanating from the f-hole.

Also the tuners don't look familiar.

Thanks, i agree with you. The headstock looks alot like some Harmony guitars ive had from that period. It may be a conversion from a regular guitar or Faux-Bro.
There was alot of shenanigans going on with the big Chicago jobbers at this point (late '30s im guessing) so it could be anything, i didn't think I'd get hurt at $350.00. I'll post more shots when I get it.

The headstock certainly looks like the headstock from the 1940 Harmony Sovereign I picked up from Jake Wildwood in 2014. The cover plate is stamped with National-Dobro licensing and has a dobro made cone. The binding on mine is painted on.

Wow thats an odd one, very cool. I hope mine has real vintage Dobro innards and its not just a hack job with modern Chinese stuff. Harmony made alot of fake resos and lots have been converted with varied results.

It's hard finding much info on these. While it's odd, it has a great sound. The fretboard is a bit narrow and yours looks to be a similar spacing between the strings. Since I keep this one out most of the time to grab whenever, it's nice to just play without picks. The smaller cone is little more focused and a little quieter than my other resos. Recently, I tuned it up to high bass A and it seems to really shine there.

I look forward to see/hear more about yours once you get it.

Harmony Faux-bro conversion, by a blind bricklayer 😁
Dont shop drunk!
It's got good parts though, Quarterman cone, real nice resonant spider, OMI cover plate and tailpiece. I think I can turn it into something cool once I remove all the hackery from the inside. It's gonna be A LOT of work though🙄 heck, I've bought worse.......
