I have a 1979 Emmons push pull D10 that I am trying to make "fit" me better. I got a set of one inch under height legs, and that put it EXACTLY where it needs to be for me. However, I am struggling to find pedal rods for it that correspond to the one inch under height length of the legs. The original rods are not that simple to re-thread. So I would love to hear from someone who could point me to where I could find a full set of 8 pedal rods that are compatible with a 79 push pull that are one inch under height. Thanks! |

What type hook is on your rod that connects to cross shaft? |

It's the kind where the rod goes down to a smaller size and then there is a bend right before the hook. |

What's the problem with cutting them off and re-threading them?
That's what I do.

I have very basic tools and am not extremely good with them. I have a cheap tap and die set and a basic table top vice, but I cannot tighten it enough to keep the rods from turning while I try to cut threads. I did manage to get a little bit of thread started on one rod before it started spinning on me. In short, it is just too much of a job for me with the tools that I have. So, I'd rather just spend the money on some rods that have been done right instead of ending up breaking something. |

Use some thread cutting oil on your die when cutting threads.

I was using oil, but like I said, I can't get my vice to hold the rod in place while I'm cutting the threads. It spins no matter how tight I have it, and it was to the point that it was literally leaving marks on the rod from the pressure of the vice. It seriously feels like it's about one more good turn from something snapping. It's far more worth it to me to just look for some rods that are already the right length. |

Good luck finding the rods you need. FWIW, you probably need an adjustable die so that it opens up and takes a smaller chip, then adjust and re-thread.
You can find one at Amazon for about $10 in case you are interested. Of course you need the proper type tool to run it. |

Chris - how long are the hex end connectors? Some later PPs had longer connectors, 2-3/4". If yours are the longer ones, Michael Yahl sells the older style that are only 1-3/4", just swap them out and you're good to go https://www.psgparts.com/Connector-Rod-Pedal-05-036.htm _________________ All lies and jest, still a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest - Paul Simon |

I have contacted both Michael Yahl and Billy Knowles, and neither of them could help me on this. |

I'll post a picture of my rods in a little while when I get a minute, so it will be 100% clear what it is that I need. |
