Serial number is 2C190. It's a D10 white mica. Are these model guitars fairly easy to change knee levers around? I've got to swap right and lefts. I need my E lowers and raises on the left side, and my D# to D and F# to G on the right side.

If it's white mica, it's from the erly 70s.

Unfortunately those older MSAs wkth their round cross shafts are not as easy to work on as newer guitars with square ones. But it can be done. Perhaps the best thing you could do is ship the guitar to a professional repairman.

Since you've got the raises/lowers in pairs (and thus wouldn't have to move bellcranks), it's not hard; you just have to remove and replace the rods.
Getting them properly timed is tricky, so map the setup you have. The pulls are all half-steps, so the mechanical advantage on the levers should come about the same (bearing in mind that string guage is the big factor in determining which hole in the crank to use).
Fortunately, the leverage adjustments are right there on the back of the guitar, so you can swing them in or out as needed.

I hope Mike is never tempted to use his Telecaster on me.

Well, I can't afford to ship this heavey outfit and have it re-rodded to, the cost would be waay more than what I paid for it.

I'll have to try and do it myself. I guess the main thing is getting the rods back in the same holes on the bellcranks, and end plate.

Do any of you guys that have 2 steels play with different setups? Just wondering if it would be to confusing to play two different setups. I plan on leaving my MSA at the church, so actually I'd just be playing it on Sunday morning and Sunday night.

BTW- My MSA has the pearlish colored keys which don't look so hot to me. Can you buy the Grover chrom/silver colerd keys? Just the key itself, not the whole tuner. Can't you just take the screw out of the top and put new keys in or do you have to buy the whole thing? Thanks

Terry
