I acquired a MSA single D12 a couple of years ago and was wondering if Reece or someone with the knowledge could tell me what year the pedal steel was build. The serial number is 1C270. Thanks in advance.

Is it a mica or lacquer finish? If is is lacquer, are the fretboard and logos silkscreened under the lacquer or external pieces that have been attached to the guitar?
Does it say "Classic" "Vintage XL" "The Universal" or anything else on the front?

Warning: I have a Telecaster and I'm not afraid to use it.

Robbie....We are delighted to have you in our MSA family.
MSA records indicate 1C270 to be a white single 12 which left the factory with 5 pedals and 4 knee levers. It's original destination was CMI, who was our distributor at the time and located in Chicago. They would have sold it to a music dealer, but our tracking system ended with CMI.
The actual date of completion was not entered into records. My guess would be, that it was made in 1974. |
