Here I am, looking like I'm not having fun but actually having a great time.

That’s awesome, Andy. It’s nice to see that Marlen on stage. Some familiar faces there, Ray on bass and Bob on guitar. I’ve played and recorded with both of them. Good people.

Thanks, Doug! It is a handsome little guitar.

It's been a great pleasure to play with everyone here. I didn't know Bob until we started in OC; what a great guitar player.

Andrew, great to hear about [another] Western swing band in our Southern New England region.

I play a Carter SD-12 with Western Stars here in Rhode Island. 6-piece band + vocals, with a monthly gig at a Providence club called . . . The Parlour!

Hi Chris! Sorry, I was unclear. Opal Canyon is mostly rock/folk, but I do play with a classic country band called Wild Bill and the Flying Sparks that touches the Western swing territory. Nice to hear about you, as well! What's the name of your band?

BTW Bob H. took lap steel lessons from me about 20 years ago and he was really getting into it at the time. He had (and probably still has) a 1950s Gibson BR-9 tuned to A6.

I'll ask him about that! We've got a good dynamic on stage. We don't like to have to remember who's supposed to take a solo so we just weave around each other.

That's fun music.

We are Western Stars. We carry a cloth backdrop with stars on it (!) and prop up cardboard saguaros and howling wolves. Yep, pretty corny.

Come on over some time for a RISGA meeting/jam! Doug B has done that.
