Hopefully I can get a tech to chime in here…My 4th string E. .014, comes back perfectly after I split lower it to Eb/D…..when I raise it to F (F lever) or C# (C pedal ) it returns sharp..Larry

that system has 7 parts to it vs 3 to a scissor type.
i had the unfortunate task of repairing one due to club fisted turning of the left hand tuning screw. have fun getting parts easily. i had to make them. my first guess is that the offending unit come out and cleaned, lubed and installed.
it is a art of engineering to be for sure but the scissor pulls the same notes with less parts.
side note, kiss it first before pulling the changer, could be a simple hanging rod. |

Check the nut roller, May have a burr on on the roller that will turn free and lower but drags when raised. If you just changed strings and it happened, If you rolled the rollers checking them may have changed its position.
Good Luck on finding the problem and cure. Happy Steelin. |

Problem solved..thanks for the responses..The raise return spring on 4 was not pulling with the same strength as all the others..checked it with a hand held gram scale..replaced it and all back in tune. I was lucky to have a box of Excel parts left over after rebuilding a few over the years! Larry _________________ Excel steels & Peavey amps,Old Chevys & Motorcycles & Women on the Trashy Side |
