Very cool Gary. I like your style.
Personally, I find the open string usage to be related to the way one tunes..
For me, the pedals down A chord has the most 'concert pitch' notes so I will lean toward that chord as a foundation for any pull off/hammer on style phrases.

I find practicing with a heavier, larger bar for stretches of time has a great 'weighted bat' effect that can then make the the regular tone bar feel like its really flying. Great video!

Thanks Andrew. Interesting comment about the heavier bar. I do have such a bar which I use when I doing stuff with a very stretched out right hand, but I'll try it on pull-offs and see how it goes.
