Just to let folks know that steel guitarist Herbie Stewart from Mobile, Al. passed away Sat. March 26. Herbie was a great steel player and also built steel guitars. He was very helpful with repairs on pedal steels for many players and was generous with his time for instructions. He will be missed terribly. Great man, great Christian, great friend. Lots of great memories. Rest In Peace.

In 1973 I was playing in Mobile when I bought my first steel guitar. I was directed to Herbie for some help in getting started. He was indeed helpful, and was the nicest man! I contacted him through a mutual friend a few years ago to express my appreciation for his tips and advice. The reply was typical of the Herbie I remembered. He was humble and kind. RIP dear friend....and thanks again!
