I got this last weekend at the Indiana Guitar Show along with a T-8 Stringmaster. Never had one before - a 4-leg National Grand Console. By its serial number it’s from 1951, I think. It and its case are in very nice condition. Needs a little cleaning and a restringing. I look forward to learning about it.

Those are nice, i had one a long time ago, i never bonded with it because i wasn't quite comfortable on a 8 yet. I wish i had kept it around as i now want a double 8. |

One thing I’ll give it is it’s visual appeal. I have to confess I first opened its case at the show and said to myself, “Whoa, look at this! Now,
that’s an eyecatcher!” Which would I take to a gig - a Fender Stringmaster or this National? Why, the Stringmaster, of course. Which is better looking? The National by an eye-catching lot. |

I had one of those & loved the sound (and looks!)
But it didn't have legs & was too heavy and awkward on my lap, so I sold it.
Some day maybe I'll find one with legs. Congrats on your find! _________________ "To live outside the law you must be honest." (Bob Dylan) |

Very nice find. I love National's deco styling. My Electar has colored fretboard dots too and I've often wondered if maybe entry level lessons back then used a play-by-the-color method instead of notation. _________________ Bob, small o. |
