Hi Guys
It's been a long time since I posted in the forum. I received my new Williams S-10 about 1 month ago. The sound is everything I could have wished for, in fact it has exceeded my expectations. It also looks spectacular. The issue is that it is too high for me. I cannot reach the vertical Knee lever, and reaching the E raise Knee Lever is difficult. I did discuss size with Bill, as originally I had asked him if he could make it the same height as my Carter. Me and Bud Carter are the same height, 5 foot 6" and so they mede my Carter to his specifications and it was perfect. Bill said that 25 inches would be fine for me. Anyway, it isn't.
To be fair Bill did try to remedy the problem. I suggested putting my Cater legs on the Williams and for him to make shorter rods. He agreed and told me to measure from the floor to the bottom of the apron. When they arrived they were too short by about
I have had to put a couple of wood blocks on the vertical lever to be able to reach it, but it all feels horribly awkward. Bill sent me a link to rod extenders which may do the trick, but the seller tells me that they cannot be adjusted, i.e., if you put on a 2 inch extender it will be 2 inches. Anyway, I am looking for any advice or suggestions on this. |

Nick, there are several different length 10-32 standoffs at Zoro. Maybe get a few of each length: you can add them together to get the desired length if necessary. I have these on my steels.

Hey Dan, are pedal steel rods all the same thread size? This looks like a great solution, but I want to be sure that they will fit my rods. |

If you look half-way down on this page, it looks like 10-32 is the right thread for your Williams. Hope this works out. |

Hey Nick! I recently had a similar problem! Got a used Williams 2 months ago and had to lift mine up, ended up with rods too short. I went on Amazon and got these hex stand-offs and they worked great for me. I’ve got multiple on all my rods, so it definitely looks a little goofy right now, but it’s worked great for me! Hope it helps!
