At a booth in Dallas a veteran player told me he did not know if he should offer advice to a young player on his technique. I told him to go ahead and do it, he needs to hear hear it. The vet did, the steeler was thankful.
Had the vet not spoken up the youngster might have gone years not knowing, not becoming who they could be.
As a teacher or a coach it would be a sin not to tell my students everything I could to help them succeed. As a 50 year player I am always open to conversation, so it works both ways for me.
So share share share, WE are in this TOGETHER. _________________ '70 D10 Black fatback Emmons PP, Hilton VP, BJS bars, Boss GE-7 for Dobro effect, Zoom MS50G, Stereo Steel amp, Telonics 15” speaker.

Larry,
I agree. I am fresh into this, as younger player, and I want to soak up all the knowledge that older Vets have to offer.
Bend my ear with good tips! |

yeah,Larry and Eric,I totally agree. in the 80's when I became hooked on steel after playing a show on bass sitting next to that beautiful sho-bud. The steeler was Kenny Davis from Lima Oh. He Mentored me some and got me off the ground, answered my constant questions. Sharing the secrets to this crazy machine is the best thing we can do to help out the newer players.. |

Just beware of advice that begins with “always” or “never”. |

Good point Fred. What works for some might not work for others for sure. |

One of my big fears as a younger player is the amount of priceless knowledge being lost as the older generations pass on. _________________ Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous; praise is meet for the upright. Give praise to the Lord with the harp, chant unto Him with the ten-stringed psaltery. Sing unto Him a new song, chant well unto Him with jubilation. For the word of the Lord is true, and all His works are in faithfulness. The Lord loveth mercy and judgement; the earth is full of the mercy of the Lord.
