Need forum members feedback if this would make a good steel amp.

Would I be able to add 2 (10" speakers) to the upper left and upper right of the cabinet to enhance the sound with the 15" speaker?

For $100 I don't I can go wrong on this bargain.

You probably could add speakers, but I wouldn't. As well as the complications of varied ohms, relative outputs and voicing in a closed cab, A single 15" is the preferred speaker for most steelers and BW's are well regarded. You'll probably find the existing BW just fine. Assuming the preamp is voiced well enough for steel, but you're not happy with the speaker, your best bet would be to simply source another 15". If you do want to add speakers, an extension cabinet is probably your best bet via the rear jack.

Note also that has a nice big cabinet that appears to be the same size as a Vegas turned sideways. Many folks like a larger cabinet for better bass response.

I'd buy that for $100 in a second!

Please tell us how it works out for you. Such an interesting amp that seems likely to use the same power section as the other 300 series (212 watts), but with a closed back and a unique eq.

You won't know until you try.
But you know what they say: It's a poor workman who blames his tools.

It looks like it has two places to use as effects loops/inserts.
Plenty of EQ.
Plenty of power.
There may also be some kind of separate hi-lo frequency outputs for bi-amping or something. I'll leave that to someone else to do the research on line for schematics and manuals.

Plus.......
For $100 it'd make a good all around back up amp for a band.

As for adding speakers..........
From what I can tell from a quick internet search, there is an extension speaker jack on the back.
If you have that, I'd just add another cabinet and not butcher the amp.

A bass player I used to work with had one of those back in the day, and to this day claims it was the best sounding bass rig he's ever played, and has been crestfallen ever since someone broke into the band trailer and made off with it late last century.

Mod at your own risk. For $100, try it and see. It most likely will be an excellent (but heavy) steel amp. If not, you may be able to flip it and buy a gallon or two of gas with your profits. But don't wait too long -- gas is going up!

I might need to save my money and buy the gold stuff...lol! Anyway, I will not butcher the amp and if needed I will use an extension cabinet.

Great ideas guys...thanks! So if I get this amp...what are some of the reverbs and delay pedals you all think might work best for this bass amp?

I found one of these amps hid in a closet at our church. I used it for steel and 6 string. It's an awesome amp! Will take some tweaking with the eq section to get your sound,and as mentioned you'll want an outboard reverb pedal.I used a boss rv6. Headroom galore,and more power than you'll ever need. But,at the church it stays,that thing's gotta weigh close to 100#s. I wouldn't change the speaker.

Maybe sometime when you are at the church you could send over some settings you use for the pedal steel.

This will help cut down on the time for me and tweak the amp from there if I need too. Very Happy

I'll try and get that for you this weekend. If it doesn't have them already, I'd invest in a set of casters if you plan on using it. Other than making it easier to move,it seems to help the sound too,being off the ground a few inches.

I used one similar and it worked great for steel. Bought for $10. At a yard sale, not working. Easy fix.

I put a RV3 in front of it, and it worked great for steel. Also great for keys, tracks, whatever.

I gave it away after a long time, to a busy bass player. I just had too many amps. Put some big cheap casters on that thing, it will probably outlive you.

Here ya go Don, this was how it was set for my GFI,going through a Freeloader set at 6. Sounded pretty good to me.
