Anyone know what this speaker is? It says 1201-8 and the box says black widow but it doesn't look like my other 12inch bw. It has a 4in voice coil and it new but I need a magnet for it.

Yes, it's the most recent model of BW basket. Any of the big port Super Structure magnets or BWX should fit your basket. Just no early flat magnet Spider Web magnets.

Here's a pic of what the original magnet would look like.

This style of Black Widow speaker has been around for several years now.

Did you actually buy it new from a Peavey Dealer?
If so, they should be able to look it up for you.

If not, someone may have switched what was in the box.

There should be a white label on it somewhere with the model number. It's normally on that black space just above the terminals.

Here's a better shot of the basket style and magnet. They were silver colored for a while, then black.

This neodymium lightweight magnet will fit also if you can find one.

Could be a 1205. I see 1205 stamped on The tube the voice coil wraps around. Similar to a 1201 but with a longer voice coil for better bass response. See the following:

From Peavey website:

1201-8 SS BW™ Black Widow® Speaker
The 1201 is an 8 ohm, 12" Black Widow/Super Structure speaker intended primarily for sound reinforcement. Offering superior sensitivity and power handling in a 12" speaker, the 1201 utilizes a fiber impregnated cone for a smooth response characteristic well suited to vocals, stage monitors, and other compact applications. This model can also be used to provide outstanding mid-bass performance in a multi-way system.
