It seems all the string dealers are out of my favorite strings, D'Addario 490 Pro Steels. I heard rumor they were discontinued. Does anyone know?

I may be wrong, but it does look to me like D'Addario has made the switch to the NYXL, for a lot more money. Several sites list them as discontinued and they're no longer on D'Addario's website, as Marc already noted. I can only find the NYXL there.

There are a few places that still seem to show them them as in-stock - e.g.,

https://northernlightsmusic.com/products/daddario-esp490-pro-steel#

https://www.dorseymusic.com/p-215027-daddario-eps500-pro-steels-pedal-steel-guitar-strings-c-6th.aspx

Personally, I'd be inclined to call them first before just adding to cart. The vast majority of places I pulled up that list them are out of stock and/or discontinued.

You'll probably never break a string on a changer finger with NYXL, I abuse them like crazy on my electric guitars with floyd rose trems.

According to a representative with D'Addario:
Hello,
Thank you for your inquiry,
I'm sorry to say that we discontinued them.

Here is what we currently offer (they are reinforced by the way).

Like many others… I too have switched my steel to the NYXL’s and absolutely love the tone, sustain and especially how long they last. Ive had good luck with the Live Steel Strings and Jagwire as well but my Zum Hybrid Loves the NYXL’s.
