The Urban Dictionary has many definitions on the word "Hack". The verb that turns up frequently these days is defined as, "To learn and understand a complex problem through a combination of experience, insight, and persistence."

John Hughey was my friend. I spent 3 years on the road with him while opening up shows for Vince Gill. I studied his sound and his style in great depth. While his vibrato looked erratic, it was actually quite controlled and technical. His signature vibrato and sound are the 2 hardest things to master when trying to copy his style. My new Rittenberry Prestige has finally given me the tool to accomplish his sound. As for the vibrato, it is a work in progress, especially in the nosebleed register where you run out of fretboard. Joe,

Good stuff. I think you're going to have a lot of players "hacking" your playing. That really sounds good. Expert intonation all up and down the neck.

Oh my, what a beautiful sound. I followed your videos and was captivated by your playing with the band. An Empty Glass and Phoenix are so good that I have them on my to do list. Loved those turn arounds on both.

Very nicely played, Joe. You certainly have captured some of John's style and technique. I was fortunate to see John backing Vince at a Concert in Binghamton, NY many years ago.

Thanks so much for the kind words....!!! I had been searching for a long time for a guitar to give me those highs....I could hear it on record and in my head. Gary & Derek did a terrific job on this one....!!

Stay tuned, I will try to have another hack uploaded in a day or so.... Winking Know that my imitation is just that....nothing can ever top the originals...

Very Nice Joe, are the Gumby and Pokey figures a nod to Sneaky Pete?

Craig, though I am a Sneaky Pete fan, the Gumby figures are actually a nod to my lost childhood. Laughing

Guy was a fabulous player.... I seem to recall that in his last few years he lamented the fact that there wasn't much work for him playing steel,, Can you imagine?.. Reaching that level of talent on a tough instrument and having it go unappreciated..... He was and will always be appreciated here thats for sure...
