Topic: How light single neck |

I've been playing for over 40 years.
My 2 doublenecks are getting heavier as I get older.I'm toying with the idea of getting a single neck. Is GFI the lightest single neck?
Opinions please? |

A 3x4 SGI, if you can find one. Probably about 20 lbs. in the case.

Excel and Williams are among the lightest, although you would find a GFI refreshing after any D10 
I own one but it's not available for weighing at the moment. But they're good solid machines and you won't hear a bad word about them.

My Williams guitar weighs as light as my Excel, but the case is much heavier, which rather defeats the object...
Maybe we should distinguish between ease of haulage (the Williams case does have wheels) and ease of manipulating it out of the case when setting up.

My Excel S-11 is 37 Lbs in the case, which is very light yet very sturdy. GFIs are pretty light as is my Justice S-10 jr.

I downsized from D-10 to a GFI S-10 with pad. I had considered a GFI S-10 (26 1/2 lbs) but Bob at GFI told me I'd be happier with a pad since I was used to D-10's. The GFI S10 with pad is 30lbs.
I bought a Gator G-PG-49 keyboard case, 6 lbs. My GFI Ultra S10PU is 36 lbs in case. |

I've only been out once since getting the Gator case. Everything fits in the case. Guitar in the padded compartment and the pedal bar and leg/rod bag in the separate section.
I considered a separate bag for the pedal bar and legs/rods but right now its not needed. |

My 2015 Excel S10 is 21lbs, case is 12lbs…….fits in the overhead in 1st class..

Ron, I share your concern.
For me, it came down to my long-held belief that if I could no longer carry my guitar, it was time to quit. Then I looked at myself and decided that, at age 74, I was just out of shape and I didn't want to be an old fat guy any longer.
So I quit drinking and started watching what I ate. In the past two months I've taken off 22 pounds and am down to 153. I've also been working at LA Fitness with a personal trainer on my core and upper body strength and the guitar ain't quite so heavy any more. I still have a ways to go, both with my weight (personal goal: 145) and strength, however.
I recommend that approach to you. It's not instant gratification, but the change in attitude and ease of motion has improved everything, including my lower back issues.

Herb, I also watch what I eat so it doesn’t fall off the fork before it gets to my mouth. Seriously 22 lbs in two months is an awesome accomplishment!

The biggest factor in my weight loss was giving up drinking, and it was/is remarkably easy for me after my decision to lose the weight. Then reduction (but not elimination) of carbs, and finally the gym. I was at my best shape in my mid-20s and I was around 140 at that time. For now I'd like to get to 150, and then see how I feel.

Those SGI's are cool.
Gotta watch pushing the knee levers too hard or the guitar easily moves in that direction.
Stabilizing it by attaching it to the pack-a-seat legs solves that problem.
Perfect for the overhead bin on a plane.
I believe Mitsuo Fuji made those for Scotty.
Maybe he could make an updated one??
