Pro-Fex 1 , (not PRO-FEX II) - CLASSIC 1st addition. "NO PROGRAMMING CARD" EX operating condition, multiple processor programming effects , RVBs, Delays etc...stereo out. MISSING 1 knob on front panel and the knob on the rear panel. Easy to edit, program and save patches.

I've owned this unit for well over a decade and it has sat in my studio rack unused for almost as long. Time to move it along . I've also used this "LIVE" for specific RVBs and Delays with the Steel.

19" standard single rack space, AC powered ( not a WALWART ) minimal rack rash if any.

Front panel Headphones out jack with Volume control . (I used this to tune and warm-up on gigs)

Midi options and stereo outs on rear panel. Rear panel level control sets unit overall output gain if necessary.

DEAL IN THE MAKING

I was asked what is the difference between PROFEX AND PROFEX II

Both have 128 settings that can be edited and have the same effects + chain.

PF II has the RAM Card, NO Headphones out and no Single INPUT on the rear panel.

The first issue, PROFEX -1 , does not have a RAM card, but it has front panel Headphones out ( stereo) with level control and rear panel single input with level control. When I used it on the gig, I found the Headphones out to be extremely valuable for tuning and warming up.

PF II has only MIDI thru while PF-1 has midi in , out and thru, if that is important.

Both operator manuals are still available on line

This unit "for sale" is operationally clean, no extra pot noises etc...I edited maybe 3 or 4 presets for use with the Steel, RVB and Chorus, other than that the presets are still "factory" as far as I know.

thx

tp

Still available, apparently the interested party has moved on.
All is good.

This is a fine unit is all I can say, plus I found a couple of PV knobs !

Sorry to leave you hanging. I forgot about it. I dont checkin to the forum much and have been working A lot.
I'm still on the fence wondering also about the battery issues on profex?
Or only on Profex 2 and tubefex types?
I bought a transtube fex from a guy on here abou 2009 or so and it didn't last a few weeks it was already having the battery issues and he didn't tell me, It quit on me

Chris, all the Peavey ” fex” units had the same type memory battery installations and subject to the same issues as the years accumulate. This unit was the original 16 bit profex around 1990 prior to the profex 2 units that incorporated the memory card capabilities and Walwart power adaptors rather than the attached ac cord. They are really good units and fully programmable just as the profex 2 units with 100 user presets, if memory serves me correctly. But maybe Tony can open the unit and verify no battery leakage or circuit board damage and verify that the memory is also working? I’ve never installed the memory chips in these models but fairly sure it’s adaptable. Ken Fox would be able to answer that question.

If those reservations are answered then you’d be getting a really good versatile unit at a reasonable price. If damage to the circuit board is visible or battery leaking then you may be in the same unfortunate situation you mentioned from the previous Peavey unit you purchased.
Dave 🙂

Thanks David.
I would be interested if there is no Leakage or Damage.

Yes I opened the unit , it is sparkling clean. If there is no interest very soon, I'm sending it to my nephew.

The unit has "NO " Newman presets saved, I never bothered. I wrote a few of my own based on RVBS and DELAYS. This unit has NO card slot. The PF and the PF II have the same algorithms , if you know the patch details they can be written and saved in any location .

The OP manual is available on line, editing is straight forward and simple.
