Hi just installed the L710. I noted in a post in the forum
that they had to install the pickup 3/8 to ½ inch below the stings yet the Wilde website says 1/8 inch. At 1/8 the pickup is very loud although clean. And the amp gets a signal with the volume on zero.
So my question is what height should the Wilde 710 been installed.
Also I notice the spli Coil volume drops compared to the humbucker. Is this normal.?
To me the Split Oli is overly thin.
I have attached my non technical wiring diagram for comment
Thanks kindly.

3/16" is what I had the 710's in my Franklin set. Mr. Franklin told me I had them set correct.

I didn't wire them with a switch, just use the humbucker wiring (what I bought them for).

Too close to the strings and they will get "thin" or 'trebly" and can even distort.

I space them 2 to 3 quarters (coins).

The drop in volume between humbucker and single coil is normal. The single coil being "overly thin" compared to humbucker is pretty normal too, depending on your definition of overly thin.

I can't speak to the wiring diagram, but agree with what Jack and Richard said. The 710 can benefit from being set slightly lower than other humbuckers. I never had mine closer than 3/16" below the strings (about 3 US Quarter coins). You should start there -- and experiment going even lower.

The point of the coil tap is get that super wiry, old-school sound, so maybe the sound you're hearing is a feature and not a bug?
