Anybody know the weight difference in a Mullen D10 RP model and a Mullen SD-10 RP model? I know it can't be much, but I'm afraid I'm goin to have to go to a lighter guitar. The last two times I've taken my guitar to Church, my back got all out of wack. I know it's not the 42 Lb 112 doin it, it's got to be the guitar.
I love my Mullen, but may end up having to go to a Lighter guitar. I really don't want to lose my C6. I've learned a good bit on C6 in the last year or so. I know a Carter D10 is only 38 lbs, and 56 cased up that's not bad. I'm not sure what my Mullen weighs cased up but it's a lot more than 56 LBs.
I think GFI D10 weighs close to a Carter don't it?

Terry, you could also do what I did. Go with a two piece case. It really made a difference for me. Ray Walker made mine. He does very good work. www.walkerseats.com

10 lbs is the difference.

Shipping weight: D-10 68lbs, SD-10 58lbs.

I would reccomend a case with wheels or even cheaper just get a little fold up luggage cart for it.

Two cases are good advice.
But you still have to pick it up to bring it in the house and pick it up to put it in the car. That still takes Muscles in good shape.

There are several choices now with all the top builders. Heavyweights and Lightweights both...al.

Thanks Mike for the info on the weight. A two piece case would definately help, but I doubt I could afford a new one. Might keep an eye out on the for sale forum for a used one. Thanks ya'll

Why don't you make a case for the pedal bar etc??

It's only a box, not rocket science

I've been carrying the legs and pedal rods in the leg bag, it makes quite a bit of difference. You have to be careful not to let them slide out of the bag, I think I'll make a special bag for them.

my d10 zum is noticably lighter than my emmons, in or out of the case...but since this is the only exercise i get, i look at it as if i'm working out at the gym (which i've never done) and there's lots of chicks in skimpy workout fashions around digging me!
i'm 58 and surprised how my right arm and back have survived so long....!

Chris, your very fortunate to have a good back at 58. I'm 56 and have had back trouble for 20+ years. My spinal surgeon went in an fused bone where the disk(very bottom disk) was suppose to be. Even though exrays have shown the fusion to be in tact, I still have that same dull ache, stiffness, and sorness. Maybe because the two disk above are about gone also.

C'mon guys --- the WHEEL was invited quite a while ago ...try putting some on the bottom of your steel case !! and you won't notice the weight until you lift it into your vehicle.

Paddy,

I have wheels on my Dekley (the definitively heavy steel guitar), but they are only good when your on a flat hard surface. Last Friday we had a gig on a second floor--no help fromt he wheels. Also, lifting the case up to put it int he car is enough to throw your back if you're not careful.

I recently split my Twin into separate speaker and head enclosures; might be time to go to the split case when I get my new steel too. Ah: isn't growing older grand?! At least there's less weight (in the form of hair) on top of my head!
