Turned on my Profex II today (Newman presets) and found that it had suddenly gone into 'Bypassed' mode and do not understand why. Do not recall pushing any of the buttons on the front panel or changing anything. The setting knob does not function when turned. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.. |

David,,I remember a few years beck my Profex did the same thing after I replaced the battery with the battery mod from Ken Fox. Ken had instructions with the mod for start up after replacing the battery with the mod. I cant find the instructions now but,,I had to upload the Newman Pre Sets with my Profex Card with the Newman pre sets on it. Had to hold one of the buttons down while powering up & then dump cart C into user settings.
I know it might sound complicated but it was a snap
You might try to contact Ken to get instructions ? _________________ steelguitarguy.com |

Richard..The unit was working fine last time that I used it, powered it up today and experienced this problem. Has had the Fox battery less mod performed and the presets installed. Will try to contact Ken, thank you for the reply. |

Probably needs a "factory reset". That will erase all the user programs. |

I have only seen two occasions when the batttery-less memory lost its content. One was due to a lightning strike Unit reset and was fine. Another due to old battery leakage still on the board.
When I do a Profex in the shop I remove the circuit board and clean both sides with water, baking soda and a toothbrush. I dry it was compressed air. After that the residual acid is usually not an issue.
Let me know if it acts up again, Dave |

I would like to be able to bypass the Pro-Fex when I don't need it without having to disconnect it. Is there a switchable bypass mode? |

No there is not a bypass. You are always going thru the analog to digital converter and then on to a digital to analog converter |
