I recently acquired a six string lap steel with a 26" scale. My thought was to string it in G tuning like my dobro, but am interested in trying a different tuning.

I've played standard guitar for about 45 years, but wanted to expand my horizons. The dobro has been a lot of fun to learn, but lately the lap steel has been getting my attention.

Is there any information about string gauges for different tunings and scale length? Are there preferred tunings for a longer scale? Mostly what I'm interested in is being able to add fills to songs that I record at home. I'd consider myself a fan or Americana type music having firmly established my roots in early 70's music.

Thank you

Keith
