Friend sent me this video of Earnest Tubb with Buddy on steel and wanted to know about his rig. The guitar looks like a very early wraparound with wooden necks but there is a plate where the logo would be. And what are those amps? Big thanks to the early Emmons experts.

One thing I noticed about the guitar-- and the video is really fuzzy -- is that the pickup appears to have a white line on the bobbin. And do I see a bolt head on the top of the changer? Weren't the early bobbins all black? Might even be the Blade, the video is so poor. This is way above my early Emmons pay grade... _________________ I need an Emmons! |

The amps look like the Sho-Bud Compactra Which is an Evans built amp. I use this amp all the time, love the sound.
The holes across the top are showing only because of the camera flash.
Mine has the Altec speaker in it which I like. |

I've got a Compactra I could be talked out of if someone wanted it. Will not ship though. |

Hmmm... I'm up in Ione. Is it a tube amp? _________________ I need an Emmons! |

I believe that might be a bolt on changer.

It’s not but one just like it. I think most wood neck Emmons around that era had bolt on changers. |

That's my guitar! I always thought it sounded close to Buddy's when playing through a Standel XV I used to have. |
