Hi fellow steelers,
I'm fairly new to pedal steel, been steelin since 2017.
I recently bought a '73 'Pro 1 Custom' 5x4. I love it. I had Jim Palenscar (of Steel Guitars Of North County) give it a set up/tune up. He said it had some parts that were 'not inherently Sho~Bud parts'
I've determined that it has an Emmons cut tail changer on it.
My question for y'all is, has anyone ever heard of someone adding the Emmons changer to a Sho~Bud & why would they do this?
I appreciate your time & interest!
Thanks, Dave. |

This is for sale? I think this post needs to be moved. Can you give us a picture of that changer? I’m not sure how a cut tail Emmons changer would fit into a ShoBud. _________________ KEVIN MAUL: Airline, Beard, Clinesmith, Donner, Evans, Excel, Fender, Fluger, GFI, Gibson, Hilton, Ibanez, Justice, K+K, Live Strings, MOYO, National, Oahu, Peterson, Quilter, Rickenbacher, Sho~Bud, Supro, TC, Ultimate, VHT, Williams, X-otic, Yamaha, ZKing. |

David that '73 sho~bud was probably "barrel tuning"; so the original changer was 1 raise/1 lower fingers and so someone along the way wanted to make it a "Nylon Tuning" steel; so a different changer with multiple raise and lower I guess was decided on with an emmons upgrade/re-fit changer.

How did you determine that the changer in your Sho-Bud is Emmons? Is it a push-pull changer? a LeGrande changer? As Kevin said, post some pics so folks can see what you actually have, otherwise all you're going to get here is a lot of speculation. _________________ All lies and jest, still a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest - Paul Simon |
