Topic: Need advice on hooking up audio interface to Nashville 1000 |

Hey guys & gals! Merry Christmas! I hope Santa was good to everyone!
I got a Behringer UMC204HD audio interface and an AKAI MPK mini professional midi controller/keyboard from Santa  I am somewhat vague on how to output my steel or amp to the input of the audio interface. Should I use the line out XLR output jack (balanced, low impedance output) on the back of the Nashville 1000 or use the preamp output or the post EQ patch output to the input of the audio interface? Thanks for any tips.
Also, what is the best way to hook up the volume pedal and effects boxes properly to this amp? Currently I have the guitar plugged in directly to the high gain input, and the Goodrich L10K volume pedal looped through the post EQ patch. My effects stomp boxes (Delay and Chorus) are looped through the pre-EQ patch. Is this correct? Would this current hookup compromise tone?

If the way the front panel of your amp is laid out indicates signal flow, your pedal setup is fine. I think the way the Nashvilles are set up is an invitation to experiment with pedals. The Pre-EQ loop, I would think, is probably best suited for overdrive and wah type effects, with Post-EQ for modulations like chorus-delay-verb. Chorus is an oddity because it can sound about the same pre or post.
I might try VP>Chorus>Delay all in the Post EQ loop and see if there was any difference in tone. But there are obviously several other possible configurations and orderings, none of which will blow up the amp.
The first thing I do when “tonifying”, is run the guitar straight to the input, no pedals no nothing, and get a good gain and EQ starting point. With any configuration and ordering of pedals, I compare the tone with pedals off to pedals on, and then to pedals completely removed from the signal chain. |

Thanks Fred! I tried the vol. pedal in the pre and post EQ loops and no difference. I am going to try your suggestion on the chorus and delay pedals and see how that works out. Thanks for the time to reply!
[Later:] OK Fred, I tried your suggestion and it sounded muddier, and I couldn't get that "tone", but I'll play with the settings some more...

Every amp is different. Volume pedals, stomp boxes, guitars - all respond to differences in signal chain. My volume pedal straight into the front of my amp, ahead of gain, ahead of eq, is a total tone suck. Putting it in the post-amp fx loop brought it all back to life.
