This is such a cool idea. I will join as soon as I get over my Facebook fears.
I've been thinking about how this forum could be more organized into people who use specific tunings in order to share more relative information. Since I'm new to the instrument I've been gathering bits spread about. There are relatively few publications for this instrument, most seem out of print. This forum has been by far the most useful thing I've found, but finding specific information within it is sometimes challenging. This is part of what makes it fun, but combing through old posts can get tiring... Its difficult to find even basic chord charts and scale patterns etc. I could picture another A6 specific group or Alkire or whatever. The spirit of the forum seems to be the free sharing of knowledge. Just thinking out loud here. |

The Facebook Group is a helpful development. However, when it comes to diagrams, it seems a lot of players are not aware the steel sidekick app.

Rather not.
Firstly Bots and spammers swarm groups on Facebook
Secondly Privacy - I'd prefer not to have private comments linked to people's personal family info etc- posts videos etc made public there. That's what the forum is for.
Thirdly I only used Facebook because it is convenient at the moment but I'd personally rather use a different platform eventually where people's data is not resold. _________________ Stefan

Stefan, is there a particular “flavour” of E13 that the Facebook group is concentrating on? If so, could you share the tuning here?

Over the next 3 weeks we are focusing on triad inversions and had our first pedal steel exercise 1. Learnt about major 3rd intervals.
The study continues.
-----------------------------------
The PEDAL STEEL SOUND 1. - DYADS
Lets deep dive some more. Pedal Steel Interval 1. In the previous exercise the interval between E in the bass and the C as the root note - ie root voicing is the first Pedal steel sound trick.
PRO EXERCISE:
Starting from each position identified in the previous exercise do a Dyad (two note scale in C). So start as follows. Notice the pattern between the Bass note and Root note both ascend the C scale.
E, bass C root - C
F bass D root - Dm
G bass E root - Em
A bass F root - F
B bass G root - G
C bass A root - Am
D bass B root - Bdim
Now you have begun the first Pedal Steel exercise. STAY TUNED !!! LOL _________________ Stefan

As an emphatic and vehemently anti-Bookfacer, I applaud your decision, Stefan. I will definitely be checking out the new site. I have this old 10-string Gibson, and I wanna check out E13. |

Definitely. Started to become a bit crazy the amount of Bots and messages and group requests I received from India, Russia and Brasil. _________________ Stefan
