Has anyone done side by side comparisons on these?

I haven't done side by side comparisons. But, I had a Steelaire and could never get the sound I wanted and sold it. I bought the Travis Toy 12 and within 5 minutes I had the steel sound I was looking for.

I have owned both Quilter products and should say each has it's own features. I played both thru the same speaker cab loaded with the Eminence 15C neo speaker
Tone Block 202 has a slightly, more lush sound that reminds me of a Twin Reverb.

Steelaire Rack Mount (is what I owned for clarification) has the convenience of 2 channels and needs some type of cab or case for mounting.

Tone block 202 has the Reverb I prefer.

Steelaire has on board 9v DC power for additional stomp pedals.

Tone Block 202 has built voicing, I prefer the Fender setting.

The Steelaire weighs in about 3 lb heavier than the TB202

Just some of the features worth mentioning. I lean toward the Tone Block 202 and at one time had 2 Steelaires that I used for gigs and at practice venues.

I hope this review is helpful....Quilter makes great products both are great prducts.

The twin reverb is my reference too. I've often stated the TB202 is the best steel guitar amp I've had since a Twin Reverb. And it can sound "Fenderish".
