I was most curious about the cross shafts and the lever attachments.
I see that Doug uses shorter cross-shafts that are mounted to the soundboard. Nice.
Having once owned the StageOne I wanted to see that everything was adjustable, unlike the welded bellcranks on the Stage One.
Last question: is the vertical lever adjustable down for a guy with short legs like me?
I can't tell from the pics.

The previous photos answer the question well enough re: cross shafts/bellcranks but here's more.
The vertical is like many -- for me and my short legs, all the adjustment in the world will not put it where I want it -- low enough to almost touch my leg without tip-toe-ing up to reach it. If I had an Encore (or many other steels) I would end up rigging some sort of slip-on hardware to extend it a lot.
That is the beauty of the extender knuckle used by Williams and Mullen (I'd be interested to know who else does this) that allows for a lot of extra lowering extension but still can fold up for casing. |

AHA - I see. That's my prob with most steels too. My short legs have to leave the floor on some of them to press the vertical.
I'm attaching a pic of the extender you referred to. Will this work on the Encore?

When my Fessenden was my #1 a few years ago I'd looked into the Mullen extender and discovered that it was absolutely not compatible. For my Williams I actually had them custom machine their usual extender to lengthen it further. I knew exactly how high off the floor I wanted the vert. lever to sit, at rest. Their mission was to engineer the parts to achieve that. And they did. It works like a charm.
But ultimately the hardware needs to mate, very specifically, with the knee lever hardware in question so cross-guitar compatibility is unlikely. |

| Trying not to succumb to last-word-itis but ...... I lower almost all my guitars 1 - 1.5". It still doesn't get my vert. where I want it. The Williams knuckle or my own lever attachment fabrications have gotten me there. Other people's mileage may etc. etc. |

I'm 5'6" - great for seeing all of myself in a half-length mirror but not much else. LOL
Are you similar in height?

| I have a recurring problem with my Encore where the well where the body sits is a little too large and the guitar will slip down on one side into the well. Without getting a new case any solutions out there? |

I don't have an Encore (yet) but most steel cases have felt-covered blocks at either end that support the body without allowing the strings to touch the bottom of the case. Perhaps replace the blocks with wider ones (also covered with felt to protect)?

My legs are on the short side too. That's why I put my least-used change on my LKV. I have to dust it off occasionally.
